Your attempts to do everything the right way, doesn’t mean you will get right results. Efforts to live a good life, going to church often, getting baptized, going to Christian school or being home schooled, living a life of purity until marriage, memorizing as much of the Bible as you can, and every attempt to become moral, ends in disappointment, just as a movie with a shocking twist at the end, the plot wasn’t at all what you expected. You thought getting stronger was the solution, but the real answer is being weaker so you can depend on what does work: the Life from Jesus given to you.
We thought the good news was “do everything you can so God will be happy with you.” But that’s a little bit like saying “Come over to my house...and when you get there, you have to paint it all and fix everything up”> That’s not good news! Good news is God in Christ has come to dwell in you, and that in itself is enough. You are complete in Him. Everything else is your attempt to establish righteousness.
Christianity is not your responsibility. It’s your response to His ability.
